Success for PQA Darlington at film awards

PQA Darlington came away winners from The Custom Reels Short Film Awards 2016 for Best Director for Red groups Film ‘REFUGE’.

The film was selected to be screened along with 19 other entries from young filmmakers across the North East, ranging from the ages of 10-25. The films themselves had to be no longer than ten minutes.

The event was hosted and judged by Game of Thrones star Ben Crompton, along with The Dumping Grounds, Chris Slater and Producer, Samm Hailley.

Tilly Johnson was named best director for Red groups film ‘Refuge’.
Every Member of Red Group worked extremely hard to produce the film, which made it one of the strongest films to be screened on the night.

The youngest filmmakers at the event and also shortlisted was PQA Darlington’s Blue group Film “Walk a Mile’.
It was brilliant opportunity and such a huge achievement to be shortlisted against older filmmakers.

PQA Tees Valley’s Red Group were also shortlisted for their film ‘Stigma”.
The film highlighted mental health issues that could effect young people and to end discrimination.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved, hopefully the start of many red carpet events and awards for the films that PQA Darlington and Tees Valley are producing!
