PQA Enfield’s red carpet cinema screening

Aspiring actors and film makers from PQA Enfield walked down the red carpet at the premiere of their very own film projects at the VUE Cinema in North Finchley on Sunday 15th April.

“The quality of these films was simply outstanding” said Principal Will McGinley “The students worked incredibly hard on these projects and it’s so exciting to how they’ve used the techniques of television and film to tell some brilliant stories”.

The students invited family and friends to join them at their premiere, who were all treated to over 90 minutes of short films. Genres screened at the premiere ranged from murder mystery, crime, psychological thrillers, dystopian shorts, science fiction shorts, gothic horror, fantasy, mime, silent movies, comedy, music videos, public information videos and experimental one minute shorts.

All students received a commemorative medal for their important contribution towards the film making process and some very lucky students received Oscar statue awards for Best Leading Actor/Actress; Best Supporting Actor/Actress; Best Comedy Performance; Best Performance in a Music Video; Best Drama Performance; Best Director; Outstanding Contribution in Film and TV; Outstanding Performance in Film & TV.

We were also excited to premiere PQA Enfield’s two fancy short films which were filmed on location with PQA Enfield students during our summer and February half term Film Production courses; Gothic Horror short ‘BreakTime’ and Dystopian short ‘Warrior’. Both films have been submitted into the nationwide PQA Film Festival and the Swindon Independent Youth Film Festival. We will of course keep you updated on any further news regarding PQA Enfield’s involvement in both film festivals.

The money raised from our additional ticket sales is donated to MediCinema, a registered charity which PQA Support. MediCinema improves the difficult reality of being in hospital or places of care for patients and their families by bringing them genuine movie going experiences to help aid their recovery.

We are proud of all our students for the professionalism and commitment they have shown throughout the whole pre and post production process and we are of course extremely thankful to our amazing team of film tutors, producers and film makers for their dedication and hard work.
