PQA Enfield pick and mix performance

On Saturday 17th December, PQA Enfield Students performed to a full house of family and friends at Highlands School in our annual Christmas Presentation and Awards Ceremony.

Our youngest main Academy students, Green Group, performed a wonderful Aladdin Medley which incorporated songs such as ‘A whole New World’, ‘A Friend Like Me’ and ‘Arabian Nights’. For their Comedy & Drama presentation, they performed a very professional and slick performance of ‘Cinderella’. This term in Film & TV, all our students have been creating their very own short films, and we were thrilled to present Green Group’s short film ‘Naughty Bear’. Our Greens are already half way through their second short film project this term which is an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s story ‘The Magic Finger’.

Our Blue Group students have been working exceptionally hard this term on their Matilda the Musical in 20 minutes performance which sees our students learn a condensed scripted version of the whole musical which also incorporates many of the popular musical theatre numbers such as ‘Naughty’, ‘School Song’ and ‘Revolting Children’. Their performance was both energising and professional. The audience were also treated to their short film ‘The Breakout’.

Finally, our audience were treated to our older students wonderful Wicked Medley which covered songs like ‘One Short Day’ and ‘Dancing Through Life’. For Comedy & Drama we presented their Northern Playwright’s Scene Studies work – students performed a medley of short naturalistic scenes from Blood Brothers, Road, Stags and Hens, Port and On the Shore of the Wide World. We also presented Red Group’s short film ‘Payback’.

Our Christmas presentation ended with our annual awards ceremony which saw students receive PQA medals and a trophy for the following categories; Students Choice Awards; Teacher’s Choice Awards and The Principal and Vice Principal Student of the Year Award. We were also thrilled to distribute our Cineworld Film Festival Medals to the winners of the 2016 Nationwide PQA Film Festival; cast and crew of the winning films ‘Phoebo the Robot Time Machine’ and ‘Johnny Salvador Detective’.

We have all had a fantastic start to the new Academic year and we are looking forward to starting rehearsals for our West End Show ‘The Lazy Ace’. We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!
