PQA Wolverhampton – Masterclasses for Students

Hot on the heels of a busy term planning for a showcase of acting for parents students will be taking a fantastic masterclass in TV Presenting working with TV regular and experienced masterclass presenter Ben Hunte. The students will explore the skills of TV presenting with live screening in the classroom for them to see and learn from.
“This is a fabulous opportunity for students, Ben is a vastly experienced presenter and will bring all of his knowledge and skills for the students to learn from,” said Film & TV teacher Jacob. “Presenters make it all look so easy but being aware of time demands, remembering to sign off and to get all of the relevant information into a piece to camera is a real skill”.
Ben Hunte is a British investigative journalist, presenter and senior reporter at Vice News. He previously worked for the BBC and was the broadcaster’s first LGBT correspondent. He went on to be the BBC’s West Africa correspondent.
“For our students to get the opportunity to work with professionals of Ben’s caliber is amazing, being multi-skilled is vital in this industry – no one knows what opportunities will present in future and having at least dipped a toe in the water of such skills can only help”.
Principal Julian Elcock explains the importance of a variety of experiences, “It is why at PQA we offer masterclasses as well as the classes, extraordinary performance opportunities and very soon our own awards which will equip students with grades in all of what we teach”.
Before this masterclass some students will be taking part in PQA’s inaugural Drama Festival in Leicester where they will be involved in some fantastic workshops with industry professionals as well as performing to their peers. All students will be performing for parents in July and in the Autumn films made by the students will be featured in 2 Film Festivals and PQA Wolverhampton’s own Cinema Screening event in December.
