Hollyoaks actor impressed by PQA Harrogate kids
On Saturday 5 May, PQA Harrogate students were both delighted and excited to take part in their Monologue Slam, which seen students between the ages of 6 and 18 years old stand up and perform their very own specially chosen monologues to peers, teachers and a special judge!
The young performers went head to head in PQA’s new national competition, The Monologue Slam, which was judged by Hollyoaks actor and West End performer Luke Jerdy.
Although Luke chose the top three performers from each age group, a total of three finalists have had their monologues recorded and sent to PQA headquarters for the chance to represent PQA Harrogate at national level.
Thirty finalists from across the UK will travel to London later this year to perform in front of a specially invited audience.
‘Harrogate has some really talented young people! The energy and enthusiasm for performing was great to see, the kids so clearly enjoy being a part of PQA. To get up in front of your peers and perform a monologue is daunting to say the least, so I was very impressed at both the bravery of acting choices and the unwavering support shown by those watching. Well done to all.’
PQA Harrogate will be performing at Shaftesbury Theatre in London’s West End on Sunday 14 October 2018.
