PQA Leicester is a multi-award-winning weekend academy, which has been providing high-quality performing arts and filmmaking training in a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment since 2011.
Every Saturday, young people aged 4-18 join us for exciting sessions which combine training in the arts along with essential life and social skills.
Students aged 4-6 take part in our 90 minute Poppets class:
Poppets: an introduction to performing arts, building confidence and social skills and encouraging creativity
Students aged 6-18 benefit from three modules every week:
• Comedy & Drama: devising, improvisation, and script work
• Film & Television: screenwriting, storyboarding, filming, and acting for camera
• Musical Theatre: singing, dancing and acting for stage
PQA Leicester runs from The City of Leicester College, which is a secure venue with impressive performing arts facilities and free parking. Led by Principal Karen, the long-established team are DBS-checked, safeguarding-trained and passionate about helping young people thrive and flourish.

Different from an acting club or acting school, children delve into a breathe of activities around all elements of the performing arts. From Screenplay writing to dance classes, singing lessons and so much more! In addition to the exciting opportunities available at PQA, we also offer children the opportunity to delve into other creative aspects of the performing arts industry. Our team of industry professionals are here to help, guide and nurture your child on whichever path they choose: Comedy and Drama, Musical Theatre or Television and Film. Whether that be performing on-stage at His Majesty's Theatre in the West End to seeing your child's latest Film & TV work on the big screen, there's something for everyone at PQA. Karen is an actor, director and presenter. She has acted professionally on the stage and for the screen for over 20 years and began working with young people back in 2006 as the drama coach for a large stage school in Leicester. She launched PQA Leicester in 2011. Karen has a degree in Theatre Studies and Technical Theatre Arts which she studied at Middlesex University.
