PQA Durham offers performing arts classes each Saturday at Belmont Community School which gives us a brilliant venue with a wide variety of facilities including a a large drama and dance studio, rehearsal rooms, a specialised Film & TV room, and a cosy space for our Poppets class
Our weekly sessions include Comedy & Drama, Musical Theatre and Film & Television for children and young people aged 4-18. At PQA Durham, we are passionate about delivering first-class performing arts sessions giving children the space to learn make friends, build confidence and explore their passions all in a safe and welcoming environment while they explore the world of performing arts.
The best part, there is no need to pick just one class, PQA's weekly three-hour sessions explore:
• Comedy & Drama class: your child will learn creative play, Improv and scriptwriting
• Musical Theatre class: your child will learn to sing, dance and act for theatre
• Film & Television class: your child will start to storyboard, screenwrite, film and act for television
Led by Principal Michael and a wonderful team of teachers, we're dedicated to what we do, and we strongly believe that the important life skills your child gains at PQA - like teamwork, resilience and communication - will stick with them throughout life!
In addition to the exciting opportunities available at PQA, we also offer children the opportunity to delve into other creative aspects of the performing arts industry. Our team of industry professionals are here to help, guide and nurture your child on whichever path they choose, whether that be Comedy and Drama, Musical Theatre or Film & Television. Michael is extremely passionate about the performing arts and is thrilled to be the Principal at PQA. He has extensive experience in managing and delivering performing arts education to children and young people. Michael trained at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (also known as the Paul McCartney School of Music). He has had a varied career working as a freelance producer, director, musician and teacher in the UK and overseas.
