June is a month where we shout a little louder about the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion; and this is because at the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA), it’s something we live and breathe all year round.
We often talk about “safe spaces” for children to learn, explore and feel empowered… but what does that actually look like for your child?
At PQA, it means your child walks into a space where they’re celebrated exactly as they are. Whether they’re loud or quiet, confident or just starting to come out of their shell, we create spaces where they feel they belong.
Our classes aren’t just about performing, they’re about self-expression. Through voice, film, comedy, dance, and singing, our students get to explore their creativity, discover hidden talents, and do things they never thought they could. We cheer them on at each step in their journey, from the tiniest breakthrough to the biggest standing ovation.
We believe that real growth comes from feeling safe and supported. That’s why we foster a space where children can have honest conversations, share their thoughts, and learn from one another. They’re encouraged to find solutions through storytelling and performance, and our amazing teams at the academies are always on hand to listen, guide, and uplift with constructive feedback.
Our principals, vice principals, and teachers champion every child who walks through their doors. They take the time to truly know each student, recognising their unique strengths, nurturing their talents, offering thoughtful feedback, and guiding them on a journey of self-discovery, enabling them to be their amazing selves.
We are committed to providing equal opportunities for everyone in the PQA community, regardless of their race, gender, disability, belief, sexual orientation, age, or socio-economic background. Across all our academies in the UK, we foster a culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion, and we actively combat discrimination by creating safe, positive learning environments that promote respect, challenge bullying, and encourage kindness and empathy.
When you walk through a PQA door, you are always greeted by principals and teachers who truly believe in supporting your child’s individuality and creating safe spaces which enrich the experience of your child’s classes each and every week.
So, here’s to our young performers: bold, brave, brilliant, and utterly unique.
