CHARLIE'S TREK

In December, Charlie crossed five counties and travelled over 140 km to places deeply significant to his family. His journey was fuelled by friends, family, and a powerful determination to support the research that will help Alzheimer’s Research UK move closer to finding a cure.

On the final day of his journey, Charlie stopped at PQA Head Office, where our team proudly joined him for the last 5 km to ‘Bring Hope Home’, and he quite literally did just that, meeting his family and friends at the finish line of his final stop in Bourne End, all in support of Alzheimer’s Research UK. Charlie raised an extraordinary £291,330 to help fund vital research, including an incredible £15,208 fundraised and donated by PQA academies, supported by Principals, their teams and families all over the country. Principals and their teams came together to plan carolling, celebrate Christmas Jumper Day, showcase performances, and invite their local communities to get involved. HQ got involved with a 5 km walk, making Christmas decorations and baking all to help raise awareness and donations for this heroic cause.

Tim Jenner, CEO at the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts, said:
“Family is at the heart of everything we do at PQA. That’s why coming together to support Charlie, Pauline’s son, means so much to us. His determination to raise awareness and funds is inspiring, and we stand firmly beside him and the whole family during this difficult time. By supporting Alzheimer’s Research, we hope to play a part in driving the research, understanding, and ultimately the cure that so many families urgently need.  Thank you to everyone who is sharing support, cheering Charlie on, or learning more about this important cause. It truly makes a difference”.

Bring Hope Home Filmmaking Competition

Inspired by Charlie’s incredible efforts, we launched our Winter Filmmaking Challenge, Bring Hope Home, inviting young people nationwide to explore what hope means to them and express it through the power of film.

Our judges were genuinely overwhelmed by the imagination, skill and emotional depth shown by filmmakers aged 6 to 17 from across the UK with a huge selection of brilliant, powerful short films.

Curious to see who won our Bring Hope Home competition and our runners‑up? Their outstanding short films are ready to watch. Just head over to our blog to enjoy the full celebration of our Bring Hope Home Competition.
