PQA Wolverhampton
PQA Wolverhampton is a dedicated performing arts Academy, with classes for children and young adults in Comedy & Drama (acting), Musical Theatre (singing and dancing) and Film & Television.
Our Wolverhampton Academy runs every Saturday from 10.00-13.00 and 14.00-17.00 where students aged from 4-18 from the Wolverhampton, Walsall, Codsall, Penkridge, Shifnal, Pattingham, Dudley, Sedgley and West Bromwich areas are welcomed each week for 3 hours of fun and performing arts schooling.
Principal note:
Welcome to PQA Wolverhampton. We launched the morning academy over 10 years ago and opened a second set of classes on Saturday afternoons over 4 years ago.
Our classes are project based to give students an objective and ownership of their work. We have done projects on Acting Through Song, Roald Dahl, Shakespeare, Movie Musicals and Screen to Stage. In film we often enter our national PQA film contests with entries from Wolverhampton being winners in the last 2 we took part in.
Our major target is to build confidence; it is just as rewarding, if not more, to see a child who lacks confidence step forward in class as it is to see a confident and experienced child do a great performance at show-time. We achieve this through fun and entertaining classes while incorporating the skills and techniques necessary to improve their performing ability.
We have an amazing team, most of the teachers are trained to masters degree level and all have recent professional experience. We offer not just the classes but also opportunities to see live theatre, performances in professional environments and extra qualifications too for the older students.
Our Poppets classes for 4-5 year olds are very popular, with 2 classes - at 10am and 11.30am - each 90 minutes of fun activities specially designed for little ones with performances in 2 of the 3 terms.
