Students from PQA Enfield presented a wonderful medley of Musical Theatre, Comedy and Drama and Film and TV work from the autumn term to an invited audience of family and friends at our annual end of year Christmas Presentation and Awards.
Green Groups performed a stylised, ensemble piece from the children's story 'Who Flung Dung?' and Christmas themed performance poetry. They also performed 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' and 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' musical theatre medleys. Their fantasy adventure short film 'Molly Rotter and the Prisoner of Azcaban' was screened as well as Green Group PM's music video 'The Boxer'.
Blue Groups performed 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'; extracts from their autumn term monologue slam projects and their very own devised Trestle mask scenes. 'Mamma Mia' and 'The Blues Brothers' Musical Theatre medleys were also performed with confidence and energy. We screened Blue Group AM's short mystery film 'Maps' and Blue Group PM's 1970's style music video.
Finally our Red Groups presented monologues, Trestle mask work based around the story of 'Pandora's Box' and devised Christmas scenes. 'Dreamboats and Petticoats' musical theatre medleys were performed by our SAT AM group and 'Singin' in the Rain' medleys were performed by our PM group. We also screened Red Groups music video and our Red AM's film noir crime thriller short film.
Our Christmas presentation ended with an awards ceremony, where students were awarded with their annual tenure badges and medals for the following categories; comedy and drama student of the year; musical theatre student of the year; film and tv student of the year; overall performance student of the year; the student choice award and the Principal and Vice Principal Student of the Year award. We are so proud of everything our students have achieved this term and look forward to starting work on our exciting Spring term projects which include rehearsals for our Acting Showcase 'A Festival of Shakespeare Plays', to be performed in the beautiful open-air amphitheatre in Capel Manor gardens and estate. In Musical Theatre, students will start work on our 'Acting Through Song' project for a musical theatre performance in the Spring Term and in Film and TV students will be filming a variety of short films including; romantic comedy shorts; horror shorts; psychological thrillers, western shorts and dystopian shorts.
Our Poppets also presented charming performances of 'Poppets of the Caribbean'. Our 4 – 6-year-olds performed a short script and two musical theatre songs and choreographed dance routines with confidence and energy. They have made so much progress this term and are continuing to build and develop their performance skills each week. Every Poppet was awarded a special medal in recognition of the hard work and progress they have made this term. Next term, our Poppets will be learning about musical movies and will be performing a selection of songs and scripted scenes from our Spring term Poppets show 'Finding Cory'.
We want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We will see you back at the academy on Saturday/Sunday 5th/6th January 2019.
With Very Best Wishes
