CLOWNING Frank Wurz
This Masterclass is about discovering the pleasure of being stupid on stage, feeling comfortable in making mistakes and letting people laugh at us when we get it completely wrong. This is theatre clowning without the makeup and big shoes.
The emphasis is on having fun on stage, enjoying being ridiculous and enjoying being ourselves. We will search for this essence of play through games, group exercises and improvisation, commedia del arte and exploring status and rhythm.
We sometimes use the red nose and play classical Clown routines, song, dance and slapstick, touching upon trips and falls. This approach of Theatre Clowning is influenced by practitioners such as John Wright, Le Coque and Theatre de Complicite.
