On Saturday 30th September, over 70 children accompanied by family and friends turned up to the launch of The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts in Doncaster.
The atmosphere was electric, lots of excited young faces turned up not knowing what to expect! The children were split into age groups and got to sample classes in PQA's core modules; comedy and drama, musical theatre and film and television, whilst the parents had the opportunity to take a peek at their children in action during classes.
A mere month later saw the Academy getting themselves into the Halloween spirit with pumpkin carving and themed weekend at the Academy. We can confirm that no Vice Principals were harmed during the Halloween fun!
On Wednesday 22nd November talented Performing Arts students aged 4 to 18 years from The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts in Doncaster were invited to perform with G4 as part of their Christmas by Candlelight Tour. G4 shot to fame on ITV's first series of the X Factor in 2004, where they pioneered the world of 'Popera'.
The amazing concert took place at Lincoln Cathedral to a packed audience. The evening was a huge success and saw over 180 students performing with G4 on songs including: 'Silent Night', 'O Holy Night', 'You'll Never Walk Alone', 'Once In Royal David's City' and 'O Little Town Of Bethlehem'. Students were chosen to perform their own songs 'Sleigh Ride' and 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas'.
One PQA parent really went the extra mile for the occasion and volunteered himself to complete a sponsored walk from the Academy in Doncaster to Lincoln Cathedral. Having set off at 3.30am the epic journey took thirteen hours with money raised going towards funding the students' performance in London's West End next year!
