Students from Southwick recently enjoyed a backstage Tour of the Theatre Royal, Brighton. The 200 year old Theatre Royal is a masterpiece of theatrical architecture. Furthermore, the number of distinguished actors who have trodden the boards there reads like a Whos Who of the theatrical elite: Laurence Olivier, John Gielgud, Ian Mckellen, Peggy Ashcroft, Marlene Dietrich, Edith Evans, Vivien Leigh have all graced its stage.
They were able to discover the theatres ancient stage traps, underground stream and secret tunnel along with many details of its fascinating history as well as having a chance to feel what it is like to perform on the stage.
Just in case you missed this one, we will be doing another Tour later in the year.
With thanks to The Theatre Royal, Andrew Allen , Lizzie Braint and Marc Woolard for the photos.
