PQA Watford is based at West Herts College, a state-of-the-art venue featuring a 120-seat theatre where students put on fantastic performances and showcases; a fully equipped dance studio with mirrors and sprung floor; a Green Room; and even a TV and video studio.
We operate on Saturdays AM (9am–12pm) and PM (1–4pm), where we welcome students aged 4 to 18. Each week students have sessions in Comedy & Drama, Musical Theatre and Film & Television, led by our fantastic team of Teachers and Teaching Assistants.
We are always working on exciting projects which feature our students performing in a variety of different roles, in musicals, plays and films.
We are passionate about every student's personal journey with us, and the whole team work hard to ensure every single student is given the opportunity to become the best performer they can be, and reach their potential creatively. Every student has something unique to offer, and it's our job to encourage this and develop it!

Andrew has been part of the PQA Watford family since the Academy opened in September 2012.
Andrew was the founding editor of the UK's leading independent theatre website, West End Frame, between 2012 and 2016. During his time as editor, Andrew reviewed all major theatrical openings, interviewed theatreland's biggest stars and managed the website's news desk.
As a freelance theatre journalist, Andrew has written for Broadway World and Gay Times. He was the content manager for London Theatre Direct between 2013 and 2015 in addition to being a columnist for the site.
Andrew is delighted to be the Principal of PQA Watford as the Academy enters its sixth year.
Melissa studied Musical Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, graduating in 2016. Prior to Studying at Mountview she received a foundation degree at the Guildford School of Acting. During the course of the year she was chosen to sing as part of a choir supporting 'West End Men' which played at the Vaudeville Theatre.
Whilst at Mountview Melissa performed in a large array of productions including: Sunday in the Park With George , First Lady Suite, Kiss Me Kate and Legally Blonde. Towards the end of her final year Melissa was nominated by Mountview for the Spotlight Prize award where twenty of the UK's most talented drama school graduates compete in front of an exclusive VIP audience and industry professionals.
Since Leaving Mountview Melissa has appeared in the daytime BBC soap Doctors and in December 2016 played the role of Cinderella in Cinderella (Jordan Productions Pantomime).

Film & Television
Jimmy Dean is a film director who recently graduated from the Film & Television Production Course at the University of Westminster. Jimmy directed Pauline Quirke's Broadchurch co-star Charlotte Beaumont in his award-winning debut short film Charity, and recently finished his second short film Offside. "I can't wait to get started teaching Film & TV at PQA Watford. I truly believe in young talent, and I can't wait to start making memorable films with students, which will go onto be seen on the big screen in the cinema!"
Comedy & Drama
Charlotte trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Upon graduating Charlotte starred in BBC award-winning short film 'The Breakdown' and won 'Best Shakespeare' in the BBC's Carlton Hobbs radio competition. Charlotte's voice over career has seen her regularly work with Global Radio and Pearl & Dean. She has filmed in multiple countries and performed in many London theatres, as well as at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Charlotte regularly works with theatre company Very Serious People, performing improvised show 'First Take: The Improvised Movie'.
Charlotte has been with PQA family since 2013, and is thrilled to now be Comedy & Drama teacher at Watford.
Millie completed her professional Training at Laine Theatre Arts in 2011 and has performed all over the globe as a professional dancer since.
She started her career working with Danze Fantasy productions in Phuket, Thailand and went on to perform at Warner Hotels in Wales. She has completed two seasons for Openwide Productions at "The End of the Pier Show" in Cromer.
Most recently Millie has been working away at sea having performed shows for two cruise contracts for Jean Ann Ryan Productions on board the Oceania Marina.
Excited to be back on dry land Millie cannot wait to pass on her knowledge of the professional industry to the aspiring performers at PQA Watford.

Becca recently graduated from the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts with a degree in Musical Theatre. Whilst in training she played Paulette in "Legally Blonde", Ruth in "Kiss Me, Kate", and Eleanor Roosevelt/Evelyn Lincoln in "First Lady Suite".
Since graduating Becca has performed in a number of concerts and scratch nights and been regularly involved in workshopping new writing. She played Jess in "500PCM" at the Arcola Theatre, and Aurora in an actor-musician production of "Sleeping Beauty", as well as being a vocalist for "Magic at the Musicals" at the Royal Albert Hall.
Alongside this, Becca is a singer/songwriter and currently recording her debut album featuring original material.
Becca has been a member of the PQA Watford family since 2016. As well as assisting across the Academy, Becca regularly teaches Poppets, Musical Theatre and Comedy & Drama.
Film & Television Assistant
Hope was one of our original students when PQA Watford opened in 2012, before becoming a Teaching Assistant in 2016. As a PQA student Hope was particularly inspired by the Film & Television module, producing and directing films that went on to be shown at VUE Watford and entered into PQA's National Film Festival.
Hope has now gone on to study Television Production at the University of Westminster and is delighted to be working on lots of exciting films and projects with all the students at PQA Watford!
Lydia is a freelance artist and designer. Having recently completed her A Levels, Lydia is thrilled to have joined the Poppets team at PQA Watford whilst focusing on her art business.
It's such a privilege to work at PQA. I love spending my Saturdays in such a creative environment; it's great to help children gain confidence and new skills every week.
Devon is currently studying Performing Arts in Acting at Buckinghamshire College Group hoping to pursue a career in acting.
Devon has been singing, acting and dancing since she was four years old. She performed in her first ever show, Annie, when she was eight years old at the Watford Palace Theatre.
While at college, Devon has played Cosette in Les Misérables and Mrs Venable in Suddenly Last Summer. Devon has also attended several youth theatre groups, one of her favourite roles was playing Glinda in a showing of Wicked.
Devon has recently had her first professional acting job appearing in EastEnders for the BBC and works as a supporting artist in her spare time.
"It is such a pleasure to work at PQA every Saturday, witnessing talent at such a young age and seeing students enjoying themselves and letting go! PQA provides so many amazing opportunities for young performers, I wish I came here when I was younger!"
Toby is currently studying Performing Arts HND at West Herts College and is hoping to go on to finish is final year at a drama university.
Toby has been singing, acting and dancing for as long as he can remember. He performed in his first ever West End Show as a student at PQA Watford as one of the main roles in Fright Night and went on to secure another main role in his second West End Show with PQA Watford, The Lazy Ace.
While at college, Toby has played Captain Hook's Mother in a devised Peter Pan pantomime, Henry in Emma's Child and Cinderella's Prince in Into the Woods. In his first year of HND Toby portrayed the role of Miss Bleacher in CRUSH: The musical.
Toby had his first professional acting job appearing in IBoy, a film that appears on Netflix.
