We operate on Saturdays where we welcome students aged 4 to 18. Each week students have sessions in Comedy & Drama, Musical Theatre and Film & Television, led by our fantastic team of Teachers and Teaching Assistants.
We are always working on exciting projects which feature our students performing in a variety of different roles, in musicals, plays and films.
We are passionate about every student's personal journey with us, and the whole team work hard to ensure every single student is given the opportunity to become the best performer they can be, and reach their potential creatively. Every student has something unique to offer, and it's our job to encourage this and develop it!
We would love to show you what we do here at PQA Telford & Wrekin. If you're interested in a free taster session, please call us for a chat and we'll arrange for you to visit the Academy. Alternatively, you can request a brochure or enrol online now – we look forward to welcoming you to PQA!
Julian Elcock – Principal PQA Telford & Wrekin
Hi, I am Principal and Film and TV teacher for both Wolverhampton and Bridgnorth academies.
I spent 20+ years working as a Barrister practicing criminal law before I set up my first academy at Bridgnorth in 2011. There is no doubt that my experience in court brings a different and valuable wealth of performance experience and gives me a unique insight into the performers world.
As a teenager I was heavily involved in school productions and working for theatre groups and bands. I moved on to working as a lighting technician for bands on tour and also with concert orchestras and theatrical companies before having a change of career and taking up the law.
I returned to the performing world when my son (now 16) began performing as a young child, this rekindled a passion and led to the idea to start Pauline Quirke Academy Bridgnorth with a view to making it a vital part of the town's community, with Pauline Quirke Academy Wolverhampton following 1 year later.
I have recently given up the law and am now working full time in the Performing Arts sphere, I have recently filmed my first documentary film for a local band, a music video and been heavily involved in a short film in our town. I have also recently published my first novel.
I am writing scripts at the moment for a film short with a view to expanding it to a full feature length film if there is sufficient interest and am involved in a new comedy series, the pilot for which we are shooting at the moment including several scenes at my home.
I am passionate about giving students opportunities that simply did not exist in my day and offering that to as many students as possible. Our ethos is that we want to offer students the opportunity to increase their confidence and ability to express themselves through the medium of Performing Arts and Cinema.
Marguerite spent 30 years practicing in law most recently in a judicial role as a Coroner...which is nothing like Quincy for those old enough to remember.
Her main passion is cooking, especially baking and occasionally the results make their way to PQA. Marguerite is passionate about theatre and loves to see plays as often as we are able.
As a lawyer she brings an understanding of performance and technique to PQA along with an organisational flair. Her particular love is costume and she spends huge amounts of time scouring her sources for bits and pieces for our shows.
Julian and Marguerite share the strategic planning for the Academies, with Marguerite leading on Saturday mornings for PQA Bridgnorth and PQA Telford & Wrekin.

Comedy & Drama
I am a qualified teacher of drama, who has been teaching for the past six years. Recently a new Mum to Ophelia, I am now working part-time and have decided to join PQA for my love of drama and comedy.
I have a passion for directing and have a wealth of experience in a school setting directing various small scale productions as well as supporting GCSE and A Level work.
In 2016 I was the producer of the whole school production of Annie, which went onto win the Cloumba Trophy, competing against schools across the city of Birmingham. Throughout my teaching career I have directed a range of musicals including High School Musical, Our House, West Side Story and Annie.
A strong believer that drama is accessible for all I have been heavily involved in extracurricular drama, running groups for all ages and regularly showcasing scripted and devised work. On an odd occasion even having to step in when a cast member had chicken pox!
I studied Drama and Performance BA (Hons) degree at the University of Wolverhampton 2007-2010. Focusing on drama teaching in my final year I went on to complete my PGCE in Secondary Drama teaching at Birmingham City university 2010- 2011 where I gained QTS.
I have appeared in various productions throughout my school career, Bugsy Malone, Grease, Two and through University Hamlet and Snow White and the seven dwarves. I am a keen scriptwriter in my final year writing an original piece called 'A Typical' in the style of 'Off off Broadway'.
Esther is a trained performer, workshop leader, director and teacher. After her initial dance and acting training in Munich and London, where she received a number of awards and scholarships, she continued to work commercially and artistically across a wide range of settings.
It is during this time that she discovered her love for teaching and gained a first-class degree in Drama in 2013, followed by a PGCE teaching qualification for Performing Arts in 2017. She is currently working as a Performing Arts teacher and workshop leader and is looking forward to sharing her passion and experience with the students at PQA Telford.
Julia studied BA(Hons) Fashion Design at Leeds College of Art. She graduated with first class honours and spent some time working, in London, in the fashion industry. During this time she had the opportunity to assist high profile designers, stylists and PR executives.
Hoping to use her creativity to inspire others, on return to Shropshire, she worked in schools supporting teaching and learning. Thoroughly enjoying her roles, she then went on to achieve her PGCE in Primary Education with QTS through Chester University. Whilst working in schools Julia used her fashion design background to put together costumes, make up and props, she has also been heavily involved in school productions working with the children and other staff.
She gains a great satisfaction when she feels she has made a difference and a child makes progress.
