Meet the Team

Raj Bhambra

Principal

Raj Bhambra - Principal

I am absolutely honoured to be the principal of PQA Solihull!

I started my ballet training at the age of 12 and had moved over to contemporary dance by the time I had reached college. This is where it all really started - I was offered a position at the Riven dance company in Birmingham. I worked with Nivea on a product tour around the country during Cancer Research UK's Race for Life campaign, as a backing dancer for Boy George and many more productions around the UK.

At the age of nineteen, I was offered the position of Choreographer at Big Picture PR. The project I took on was choreographer for the support act of reggae artist Sean Paul. The show culminated in the pre-show party for the MTV Europe music awards.

At the age of 21 I met the managing director of Prism Music Group (signed to Sony BMG) who offered me the role of Artistic Development manager/choreographer and put me into a team to work on a rebranding project. The artists assigned to me were the 1950's Motown act The Drifters. Not the ones you see in Spain and certainly not the guys on the cruise ship - these were the original and official group who live and work in the USA.

After 7 years, 500 shows all over the world, a lifetime of experience, gaining a record deal for the group as a team, and the position of producer under my belt I finally decided to hit out on my own and produce my own shows.
I was then offered the opportunity I could not turn down- to be the principal of PQA Solihull.

In between all the tours and performances I have always taught for youth theatre and dance education companies as a tutor and choreographer. I love teaching children and young adults, as being able to pass on my knowledge and experience gave me such a feeling of fulfilment. To watch their development under my tutelage was as inspiring to me as much as it was to them.

Me and my team will endeavour to make sure our students leave PQA with the confidence to be themselves and take on the world with their heads held high.

If you wish to know more come as see us at PQA Solihull.

I look forward to seeing you all there

Hi, my name is Lucie.

I have a Level 3 qualification in Early years and key skills.

Over the years I have developed a passion for supporting children to become creative in order for them to not only develop their talents but to become committed, confident, imaginative and expressive young people.

I thrive off supporting children to pursue their dreams and that is what makes me a good Vice Principal and I strive to guide others in helping children to meet their potential!

Hayley

Musical Theatre/Assistant Principal

Hayley - Musical Theatre/Assistant Principal

I'm so excited to be the Musical Theatre teacher at PQA Solihull.

I started my training from the age of five in ballet, tap, modern, musical interpretation, national and gymnastics. I continue training today.

At the age of nineteen I had the honour of appearing at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End as a principal cast member. I have played various other roles such as Miss Sherman (Fame) and Beth (Oliver) since.

Having completed my degree in Performing Arts I quickly realised that I wanted to become a teacher after working as a choreographer with a youth theatre company. I joined the BMAPA team at Birmingham Metropolitan College as a lecturer in performing arts, teaching classical and contemporary theatre and working on collaborative projects within the directorate. This is where I gained outstanding accreditation for my teaching and became the musical theatre director of their Youth theatre

More recent work includes High School Musical, Bugsy Malone, Midsummer Night's Dream and many more.

I was so excited to be offered the role of Musical Theatre teacher at PQA Solihull and have the opportunity to work with a fantastic team delivering outstanding training to the young talent of Birmingham.

'To teach is to be inspired by your students, but being able to learn is worth its weight in gold.'

I look forward to meeting you all.

Film & Television

Julie Anne - Film & Television

Ever since I was a child, film and tv has been my passion!

I've worked, and continue to work, as a supporting artist and model having appeared on a mixture of live tv, tv dramas, advertising campaigns and films. This hs provided me with invaluable experience of what sets can be like for performers. However my heart lies behind the camera and in how these productions are actually made.

I set about getting as much work experience in professional tv environments as possible while I studied media studies at A-level. I then went on to graduate from the University of Wolverhampton with a degree in Media and Film production. The course itself was the best experience I could have had. After I graduated I went on to work within a tv production company who produced advertisements for companies. I was in my element, but yearned for more of an opportunity to be creative.

I then went back to university and trained as a teacher. After this I began working at a school for pupils with additional needs and my passion was the film club I ran which provided children with a place to make whatever they liked. Since then I have loved nothing more than to see creativity brought to life through film.

One of my aims as Film And TV tutor at Solihull is to provide pupils with the theory and basic knowledge behind filmmaking including script writing, story and plot, camera techniques, character development and codes and conventions in order to bring their ideas to life.

When pupils really understand what makes a good film and know how to put that into practice it makes all the difference. I want pupils to have a platform to be as creative as possible and with my guidance make fantastic films.

I have had a passion for performing arts from a very young age, I have been dancing since the age of three and have progressed to teaching beginning in 2015.

My passion for performing arts played a big part in my life at school where I left with a B in A-level dance and a distinction* in BTEC performing arts. I have had experience in a range of different dance styles such as ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary and my experience with drama techniques ranges from physical theatre to improvisation theatre.

I am currently at university studying BA Dance and after I graduate I am hoping to continue teaching and make the most out of my degree.

Maddie - Academy Assistant

I have always loved theatre. As a former student at Pauline Quirke Academy, it has given me many opportunities such as performing 'A Christmas Carol' at The Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

I am currently studying musical theatre at Stratford- Upon- Avon College. This is to further my education and hopefully fulfil my dream of getting into drama school and becoming a successful actress.
