We are always working on exciting projects which feature our students performing in a variety of different roles, in musicals, plays and films.
We are passionate about every student's personal journey with us, and the whole team work hard to ensure every single student is given the opportunity to become the best performer they can be, and reach their potential creatively. Every student has something unique to offer, and it's our job to encourage this and develop it!

Hello, my name is April and I am very excited to be bringing the first PQA experience to North Wales!
I have been working as an actress since graduating from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts with a Masters in Acting (Distinction) in 2008. I have been involved with both theatre and film, and my educational work has taken me all over the world - from a Convent in Italy to the British Embassy in Dubai.
After immersing myself for many years in the hustle-and-bustle of London, I started to hanker for the hills of home and made the decision to move back to Wales. Wanting to build on my BA (Hons) Drama in the Community and experience in education, I began to explore the possibility of running a performing arts academy. The ethos of PQA and the unique opportunities offered to students spoke to me immediately.
Having worked professionally in the performing arts industry I know all too well the pressures society can put on us all – and particularly on young people - to conform to an ideal; and yet in my experience it has always been my very uniqueness, my own individuality that has landed me a role, and finally brought me here to PQA Llandudno. Here at PQA Llandudno, we hope to nurture every one of our students' individuality, so that every young person is empowered to embrace their own uniqueness.
I am absolutely delighted to be part of the PQA family and look forward to welcoming you to PQA Llandudno. Remember – Be Yourself, Be Amazing.
Vice Principal / Cover Teacher
Hello friends! My name is David Herzog. I'm looking forward to being your vice principal and being a familiar face around the PQA Llandudno campus.
I am a professional actor originally from Springfield, Ohio in the United States. Like most professional actors in the U.S., I got my start by sinking my teeth into what we call community theatre, or what you in Britain might call amateur dramatics. I performed with such groups as Springfield Civic Theatre and Ohio Lyric Theatre. These were theatre companies made up of ordinary citizens from my hometown. We weren't paid a dime, but were passionate about bringing quality family theatre to our community, and encouraging each other as a team to achieve our very best.
After graduating from Wittenberg University with a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre and Dance, I took my love of performance and of my community to upstate New York where I worked with my first professional theatre group, the Downstairs Cabaret Theatre. There, I performed in their two long-running musicals I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, and The Water Coolers.
After adding to my professional skills and talents in New York, I was then accepted to the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts, here in the UK. I immediately fell in love with the beauty, history, and culture of this country. I loved it so much, I made it my permanent home.
After graduating from LIPA, I continued to work professionally both on stage and on camera. I worked for Image Musical Theatre of London, bringing educational children's theatre to the UK. I performed in such shows as the one-man musical George M. Cohan Tonight! at Charing Cross Theatre, and She Loves Me at the Landor Theatre. I've also filmed commercials for such companies as Schweppes, Wix.com, EE, and KFC. I can even be seen in an Ed Sheeran music video!
My love of the performing arts has taken me all over the world, and now it's brought me right back here to our roots. I'm so excited to be part of the first Pauline Quirke Academy here in North Wales. I can't wait to see this new community take shape, and I can't wait to share in the good times and excitement that the performing arts can bring.
Comedy & Drama
I am delighted to be part of PQA and responsible for delivering the Comedy and Drama module. The reason I love being part of the PQA team is because I admire what they stand for- Be Yourself, Be Amazing! Young people these days do not have enough outlets to think creatively and explore and I love how drama can act as an effective platform for young people to do just that!
I graduated in 2015 from Edge Hill University with a First Class BA (Hons) in Drama. From this, I became part of a Commedia D'el Arte troupe. We have performed in places such as Eden Festival and Lancaster Comedy Festival, to name a few!
In 2016, I underwent my MA in Making Performance, from which I am graduating this summer. During this time, I have become a core member in a theatre company, which is set to tour this autumn.
I am so privileged to be part of the incredible PQA team, and very lucky to have the support of our fantastic Principal, April!
I graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre. During my training I performed in various Musicals such as, Just So, Aida, The Wild Party & The Jonah Boy. For two years I was also a member of the award winning UCLan Chamber Choir performing at various concerts, charity events and television performances, including two tours to the South of France.
I am thrilled to have accumulated a wealth of experience within the theatre industry including touring the UK with Tickled Pink Productions & Eva Long Productions. I have also toured North & South Wales with Performance in Education in association with the Food Standards Agency delivering shows and workshops in Primary Schools.
For two years I worked as Lead Production Vocalist, Assistant Entertainment Manager and Show Captain for Warner Leisure Hotels. Here I performed in high energy production shows, my own cabaret, and sang with the resident band covering various numbers from social and ballroom to upbeat dance and pop numbers.
Along with teaching for PQA, I run my own business providing entertainment for the community across North Wales and the North West.
I am thrilled to be joining PQA Llandudno and can't wait to pass on my love and knowledge of Musical Theatre and watch the pupils grow and develop into the next generation of young performers!
Film & Television
I've worked in the film and TV industry since 1995 after graduating from Salford University with a HND in Media Production. Shortly after I got my first job as Assistant Editor on "The Cops" a BAFTA winning Police drama for BBC 2. From there I went to work on TV dramas such as "Bad Girl's", "Teachers", "Judge John Deed" and "How Do You Want Me?".
I'm a fully experienced Avid editor. I've written produced and directed several short films and music videos and I'm currently working on both short and feature film screenplays. I'm also teaching a Bfi accredited film-making course to 16 to 19 year olds for TAPE Music and Film in Old Colwyn.
I'm really excited to be part of the PQA team because I love passing on my knowledge and experience to people just starting out in the industry. I think it's really important for young people of all backgrounds to have an opportunity to express themselves through art and creativity.
Donna graduated from the University of Winchester with a BA Hons in Drama and Performing Arts.
During her time at university she took part in a range of performance projects from teaching youth groups, devising, pantomime, puppetry, singing in a gospel choir and running drama workshops at a community prison.
She went on to work in family entertainment for Tui, Disney, Royal Caribbean and First Choice Holiday Villages. Now based in North Wales Donna works as a special needs teaching assistant and can often be found entertaining little princesses at their birthday parties! Donna also has a side-line in freelance writing, contributing to On Stage Blog, Get The Chance and Early Years Educator among others.
Donna is actively involved in local theatre both on stage and backstage. Theatre credits include Nancy in Oliver, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun, Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act and Mrs Cratchit in Ebenezer Scrooge.
Donna is thrilled to be working for PQA as it gives her the chance to pass on her love of theatre to the next generation. She believes learning through the arts can provide transferable skills beneficial in any walk of life.
I am excited to work for PQA because I am looking forward to widening my experience with children in different ways. I am currently studying Childcare and have had the opportunity to go into local schools and nurseries to help as an assistant, as well as working with children in Romania.
I am looking forward to combining the two things I love most – working with children and helping to give them the best opportunities possible through performing arts.
Teaching Assistant / Cover Film & TV Teacher
I have always enjoyed acting, theatre and performance since a young age and have developed a passion for film and film editing over the years. I have been a member of various theatre companies growing up and studied drama throughout high school, taking this as my college choice and completing a three year course.
Alongside a career as an actor and children's entertainer, I am now studying to be a teaching assistant and am looking forward to sharing my passion for performing with the students at PQA. Performing is great - you'd be surprised how much theatre can change you, your confidence, your perspective and your outlook. There's always something to learn, there's always something to teach.
I am currently taking my A levels in Music, Drama and Film Studies at Ysgol Aberconwy.
I fell in love with all things theatre when I did my Year 4 play, 'Oliver' where I played my first ever role, 'The Artful Dodger' and have been taking part in theatre productions ever since.
As well as performing in many shows from musicals to one act plays, I have had two amazing opportunities to perform in front of Her Majesty The Queen with Llandudno Youth Music Theatre and sung in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics with Only Kids Aloud.
I love to pass on the knowledge I gain to others in theatre and hope that my work here at PQA will help today's young performers to go on and continue to do what they love!
