WELCOME TO PQA LIVERPOOL!
We operate on Saturdays from 9.45am-1pm, where we welcome students aged 4 to 18. Each week students have sessions in Comedy & Drama, Musical Theatre and Film & Television, led by our fantastic team of Teachers.
We are always working on exciting projects which feature our students performing in a variety of different roles, in musicals, plays and films.
We are passionate about every student's personal journey with us, and the whole team work hard to ensure every single student is given the opportunity to become the best performer they can be, and reach their potential creatively. Every student has something unique to offer, and it's our job to encourage this and develop it!
We would love to show you what we do here at PQA Liverpool. If you're interested in a free taster session, please call us for a chat and we'll arrange for you to visit the Academy. Alternatively, you can request a brochure or enrol online now – we look forward to welcoming you to PQA Liverpool!
Hello, my name is Aimee Leigh and I am pleased to introduce myself as the principal of PQA Liverpool North. Acting has always been my passion and has shaped the person I have become today. As a child all I wanted was to perform, I was always at my happiest when on stage and I was lucky enough to be able to follow my dream.
As a child I attended dance, drama and singing lessons and went on to study BTEC Musical theatre at Southport College and BA (Hons) Acting at The University of Central Lancashire. Over the years I have been in countless productions but none have given me the same fulfilment that I have found in teaching. I have taught in several schools and nurseries in the North West of England and I can honestly say there is nothing more inspirational than imagination of a child. I think it is so important for every child to have the opportunity of self expression through performance and with the help of the team at PQA Liverpool North I am sure that your child will shine.
Film & Television
Kicking off my love for all things drama, I began studying Theatre during Sixth Form in Rugby, followed by gaining a degree in Film and Theatre at Reading University.
Whilst in Reading, I learnt to use film equipment and fell in love with putting drama on the big screen.
Since then, I have worked making promotional films, art house cinema and informational videos for international charities. I have also worked as a cameraman, capturing live footage for corporate events. I learnt how to operate various editing platforms during this time, including stop-motion and computer animation.
In the past few years, as a secondary school Drama teacher, I have helped students make zombie movies, film noir, romcoms and even created films for school musicals to create digital theatre productions.
Now as an actor, I have taken part in films on the other side of the lens, having recently been a World War One soldier and a dodgy business man who gets hit by a bus!
I am so proud to have the chance to share my experience with the students in such a creative environment at PQA Liverpool North. As the students work their creative magic with the new skills they will learn during my Film and TV sessions, I am sure we will see some budding directors emerge. Bring on the next Oscars!
Comedy & Drama
Hannah trained at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance and Doreen Bird College in London and since graduating in 2016 has accepted a variety of roles, including her involvement in the immersive family theatre event 'Just So Festival' as part of Wild Rumpus Company.
As part of her work as a freelance drama practitioner, Hannah has facilitated classes in a variety of theatre practices across Merseyside and Lancashire. These include her own after school theatre club, an original Clowning course aimed at adults experiencing mental health issues and stage camps for young people interested in developing their skills in devised performance, drama, dance, singing, directing, puppetry and mask.
She is especially excited to work with the talented youngsters at PQA!
Hannah enjoys working collaboratively and strongly believes that young people should be given opportunities which allow them to express themselves creatively in a fun, safe and encouraging environment.
Tim Roberts attended the University of Central Lancashire for three years studying Musical Theatre. This course focused on the development of music and how music is perceived as well as working on acting techniques frequently used within the industry. After completing his degree, Tim continued his training at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama studying for Master's degree in musical theatre. This course offered a high intensity of training within the arts focusing heavily on acting, singing and dance.
Whilst on these courses, Tim has had the opportunity to perform for West End directors, perform on West End stage and also dedicated a concert to Dame Shirley Bassey.
Over his years of training, Tim has played many characters which has broadened his spectrum to help him understand what acting is really about. A few characters include: 'Jesus' in 'Jesus Christ Superstar', 'Toby' in 'Sweeney Todd' and 'Sky Masterson' in 'Guys and Dolls'. Tim is a strong believer that each character requires a different approach to achieve a believable persona within their current surroundings. This can include assessing the style of show (contemporary/golden age), the era the show is set in and the characters place in society (how he/she is perceived by others). These factors can all affect the way the character moves or uses their voice and is very important for the actor to revise.
Tim has taught young people of all ages for over 8 years. He is an extremely driven individual and has a real passion for achieving the absolute best in the people he surrounds himself with.
