Our aim is to introduce the ethos behind The Pauline Quirke Academy, to demonstrate what we do and how we achieve our goals, how your children will benefit from our classes and, above all, to allow your children to get a flavour of The Academy.
Following a brief introduction the children are divided into age groups and get to sample classes in Musical Theatre, Comedy & Drama and Film & Television (don't worry if your child does not want to join in at this stage, we know that some will be shy, they can just watch and possibly have a go when they're ready). Parents are welcome to stay with their children – of course this happens with the younger groups but teenagers will usually not have their parents anywhere near an unpolished performance!
During the classes parents can have some refreshments, a chat with the PQA team, and really begin to learn what we are all about! We would also encourage spending some time sneaking a look at your children during their sessions.
I look forward to meeting you on the day!
Hayley Wensley – Principal PQA Lincoln
Hi, I'm Hayley and I am thrilled to be the Principal of PQA Lincoln!
I see myself as a creative developer and I bring a variety of experiences to the role of Principal. For me, the love of arts and working with young people has always gone hand in hand and I am dedicated to supporting young people with their journey as they discover the arts and the many skills that it can give them, both as an artist and as an individual.
I have worked extensively in arts and education and have written, directed and produced numerous productions, set up and run workshops, master classes and arts projects and have devised and guided groups through Trinity group exams. I have always enjoyed performing; training as a dancer from an early age and taking part in numerous productions but I have mainly been drawn to the work that goes on behind the scenes, particularly writing and theatre design.
Having graduated from Liverpool with a degree in Drama and English Literature, the opportunity presented itself to run a musical theatre academy and during the ten years running this academy I gained a great deal of experience, managing three schools across two counties.
With two pre-school age daughters I decided that it was time to move on and took my previous experience into short-term arts projects that focused beyond musical theatre and branched into other forms of performance and visual arts, as well as working as a freelance writer.
I am a great believer in working collaboratively and I have been very fortunate to work with and learn from some incredible individuals and I have been privileged to build some amazing teams. I met my husband, Noel, shortly after graduating, while working together on a production in Glasgow and he has been an amazing support, now bringing his own knowledge and experience as part of PQA.
PQA's whole ethos resonates very strongly with me and I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful team, with young people's development at its heart, and to be able to lead this new academy and bring so many amazing new opportunities to young people in Lincoln!
Comedy & Drama
Alex is an actor and musician who has been involved in many aspects of theatre and performing arts. Having graduated from the University of Lincoln, first with a Drama degree and subsequently with a Masters in Playwriting, Alex went on to work as creative director for a theatre company specialising in new writing and working with young actors looking for support in launching their arts careers.
Alex has been involved in writing and directing numerous productions and has combined his performance experience with his understanding of arts education to work as an inspiring acting coach working alongside his arts projects in various secondary schools as a supply drama teacher. He is looking forward to working with PQA students to provide them with a supportive and engaging environment in which to develop their comedy and drama skills.
Hannah is very passionate about the arts and is committed to supporting young people and motivating them to work hard, have fun and develop their individual skills and talents. She has performed in numerous productions and particularly enjoyed directing and performing at the Edinburgh Fringe on a number of occasions.
Working as Assistant/Director for a youth theatre company has given Hannah further opportunity to develop her work with young people and her position as Student Theatre Ambassador has meant working to coordinate educational workshops, bringing her love of theatre into schools and encouraging others to explore performing arts. Directing, producing and performing in shows such as Grease, Fame and Blood Brothers has allowed her to expand her musical theatre experience and she is keen to bring that to the module within PQA.
Hannah is always looking for opportunities to develop professionally and to contribute to arts projects and education. She is excited to be working with PQA and inspiring others through her enthusiasm and energy.

He has experience working for the BBC as a runner on Watchdog Live and really enjoyed the variety involved.

He is really keen to collaborate with the students at PQA and contribute his skills and knowledge to enable them to learn all of the elements required to bring their ideas to life.

Susan is an experienced actress who has a wealth of performance experience on both stage and screen and has been involved in many aspects of the industry including performing, directing and coaching. Susan is bringing her knowledge of screen acting to our Film & Television module.
Having begun her training at the Birmingham School of Acting, Susan's talent and dedication has afforded her many opportunities, both in theatre, where she has toured extensively and appeared on stage in West End shows at theatres such as Victoria Palace and the Prince Edward, and on television in numerous commercials and in a variety of independent short films. Susan has worked as a lecturer, a singing coach and a private vocal coach to a number of television and radio presenters. She is a talented singer and also regularly performs with a 16 piece band, a 5-piece function band and in her own solo cabaret.
Nicola has been involved in performing arts for many years. She is a member of the British Theatre Dance Association and through her own dance school Nicola taught many young people various dance styles and lead them through numerous shows, exams and competitions.

She is currently at university in Lincoln, studying Education Studies and Psychology and is enjoying expanding her own knowledge and taking on various school placements.
Nicola is excited to be bringing her experience, creativity and enthusiasm as Poppets Teacher to guide our youngest Academy members on the beginning of an exciting journey in performing arts.
Lucy has always loved the arts and she is keen to contribute however she can to helping our youngest members explore and discover their own passion.
Alongside her studies, Lucy has taken every opportunity to perform and learn and has performed in numerous shows (also studying dance under Nicola's guidance) and continues to work hard to develop her skills.
Lucy is very excited to be working with our lovely Poppets and sharing her enthusiasm and enjoyment of performing arts.
Evie has a real passion for the performing arts and has been performing from a young age. Evie is a 'triple threat' and is dedicated to studying performing arts and developing her skills. She studied dance under our lovely Nicola Jones (who is a qualified and very experienced dance teacher) and alongside her dancing she has acted and sung in many shows and concerts.
Evie is delighted to be part of the Poppets team.
Noel is a musician and sound engineer who got involved in performing arts from an early age and enjoyed acting and singing before graduating onto music and the technical side of sound production and engineering.
Noel has experience in studio and radio production and live sound engineering working on large-scale concerts and conferences and theatre productions. He has played with numerous bands and worked as a live and studio session musician. He particularly enjoyed performing original material and collaborating with others to make new music.
These days Noel has less time to pursue music but enjoys his extensive guitar collection and works and records collaboratively whenever possible. His work demands a great deal of public speaking and Noel has been used a number of times for professional training videos within his industry.
Noel has a great appreciation for all the teams that work behind the scenes and knows the hard work involved. He is thrilled to be able to share his love of music and technology and his experiences as a member of the PQA team.
