PQA Evesham opened at the Arts Centre, Evesham in October 2011.

2018 has been an action-packed year for us. In January, work began on our West End production of Trouble's A Brewin'. This original musical for young people provided our students with a chance to perform on one of London's most iconic stages. After six months of work, the performance was an unforgettable experience for everyone. Students aged from 5-18 thrilled the audience and achieved a Distinction from an examiner from Trinity College London, who attended to assess our performance!

Easter saw us travelling to Barcelona where our students performed at an arts festival and enjoyed visiting both the city and local medieval beach towns. As a special treat, we also saw Paris by night during our journey home - seeing the Eiffel Tower twinkling at midnight is a memory that many of us will treasure forever. Over the years, PQA Evesham has visited New York, Paris, Italy and Spain. Each trip has bought new and exciting experiences, including performing Shakespeare in Central Park and visiting Juliet's balcony in Verona.

During May, we headed to our own Hogwarts style castle for a two-day film shoot, where we completed a short film and enjoyed a fabulous Medieval style banquet.

Visitors to PQA Evesham are always struck by the warmth and sense of team-work that exists between our students. Many of our pupils form treasured friendships during their years with us. We are also thrilled that so many of our students go on to study performing arts at some of the UK's most prestigious colleges and universities. We encourage every student to find their own voice and be the best they can be.

As an inclusive Academy, all we ask is that students have a keen interest in performing arts, enjoy working as a team and love meeting new friends. If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!

Meet the Team

Trelawney Kerrigan

Principal, Film & TV

Trelawney Kerrigan - Principal, Film & TV

Hi, my name is Trelawney Kerrigan and I'm delighted to be Principal of PQA Evesham.

My passion for producing high quality drama began with a work placement within the BBC Radio Drama department. As a new writer, I came to understand the importance of well-crafted scripts, great acting and strong direction. My journey which has taken me from radio drama to television soap story-lining; acting classes at The Poor School and Workhouse Theatre in London to screen-writing summits in Hollywood, led by script consultants to 20th Century Fox, Disney Studios, Universal and Tristar Pictures. My stage play 'I Warn You Not to be Ordinary' was performed at the Old Stock Theatre as part of The Capital Festival of New Writing.

I have worked with many groups of fledging writers – recently one of students secured a place at university studying film, a dream come true for this inspiring young woman who had arrived at her first class with very little confidence in her own ability – "I'm really excited about uni and would never have got there without your courses."

I am currently thrilled to be working with a Hollywood based script developer on an original film project and look forward to passing on all I am learning to our PQA Evesham students. At PQA Evesham we strive to build confidence and allow each student's voice to be heard. We are very excited about our forthcoming West End performance in an original teen musical and continue to be inspired and challenged by wonderful students.

Claire

Film & Television

Claire - Film & Television

Claire achieved a BA Hons 1st in Drama and Education shortly before joining PQA Evesham back in 2010. Claire has recently completed her PGCE having gained a BA Hons 1st in Drama and Education studies. She was President of her university drama society and directed the final year production.

Claire has gained a great deal of experience in teaching performing arts to children of all ages throughout her studies. She has a natural ability to inspire students, allowing the most timid of pupils to find their place and shine. She has a warm and funny personality with a flair for comedy and a true passion for teaching drama.

Claire has worked on - and appeared in - several of our award winning films. Her most memorable role to date was Effie Trinket in our Hunger Games spoof, 'The Younger Games' - a movie premiered in London's Leicester Square.

Joe

Musical Theatre

Joe - Musical Theatre

Joe's professional work includes work with Jenny Wren Productions and television work for S4C and the History Channel. Joe studied Drama and Theatre Studies to Grade A at A level and has directed Richard the Third with the Rococo Players, and Dead Guilty by Richard Harris.

His teaching experience includes working as a Pantomime Practitioner with the Everyman Theatre, touring schools and nurseries within the Gloucestershire/Oxfordshire/Wiltshire region.

"I believe that children have the greatest creative ability as they possess unlimited imagination and unparalleled creative energy. I particularly enjoy teaching children to harness their ideas and teaching them to experiment and expand on them through drama and performance, and have a good time doing it!"

Bethaney

Comedy & Drama

Bethaney - Comedy & Drama

Bethaney is trained in Ballet, Jazz, Latin & Ballroom, and Musical Theatre, and most of her best memories are from being on stage.

Her previous teaching experience includes being an assistant teacher and backstage chaperone for the ballet school she grew up with, and more recently running youth classes in Tewkesbury. She currently choreographs, directs and performs for Evesham Operatic and Dramatic Society.

Away from the stage, Bethaney is a private tutor helping students with their English Literature and Language.

Bethaney loves working with children and always strives to make her classes a place where everyone feels included, safe, happy, confident, and ultimately experiences just how uplifting performing arts can be.

Oliver

Teaching Assistant

Oliver - Teaching Assistant

Oliver has attended PQA Evesham since it's opening. This experience as a student allows him to understand exactly what a student requires of the teaching staff. Oliver's primary objective as a TA is to help students feel completely comfortable being themselves.

Oliver is currently studying drama at A-level and hopes to continue this higher education at drama school. Outside of his studies, Oliver chooses to involve himself with pastoral care for younger people and is qualified to implement this through mentoring young people, offering counselling to those who are struggling with school work and/ or home life.

Joining PQA has helped Oliver to socialise with those who also enjoy performing arts, allowing him to express himself in ways that he had been unable to do prior to PQA. Oliver would now like to aid in the development of expression within children who feel the same way.

Courtney

Teaching Assistant

Courtney - Teaching Assistant

Courtney has attended PQA Evesham since it's opening. During this time, she developed skills in TV & Film that opened the doors to a place on a prestigious film production course at Bournemouth Arts University. She is now combining her studies with returning as an assistant at PQA where she thrives in offering support to younger pupils and creating imaginative and innovative films projects. Courtney's work with children and young people in Africa have created a lasting bond between PQA Evesham and Silverbells School in Keyna. Courtney is also an experienced nursery nurse.
