Despite performing from the age of 5, Debra was put off acting as a job by the Careers Officer at school, who told her to 'get a proper job'. After working as a secretary/PA for many years, Debra finally decided to do what she had always wanted to do – be an actress. She successfully won The Stage Scholarship to attend The Academy Drama School, a full-time evening school, from 2004-2006, and since then has never looked back.
Debra has worked as a professional actress in every area of the industry. TV credits include Coronation Street, Call The Midwife, The Five, Eastenders, Doctors, Phoneshop, Fast Freddie The Widow and Me, and, of course, Birds of a Feather! Film work includes the feature films London Road, Junkhearts, Nightbus, and Angel. Theatre work includes Radiant Vermin (Tobacco Factory, Soho Theatre, 59E59 Theater New York), Home Theatre (Theatre Royal Stratford East), Saxon Court (Southwark Playhouse), A Local Boy (The Pleasance), Someone to Blame (Kings Head Theatre), Vincent River (Old Red Lion), Elephant 21 (Royal Court Theatre Local), Mercury Fur (theatre delicatessen), and rehearsed readings of new work at The Arcola, The Bush, Soho Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Theatre 503, RADA, High Tide, The Hope Theatre and The Albany. Radio - In 2015 Debra joined the BBC Radio Drama Company working on various Radio 4 plays including the series Home Front. She also provided voices for many other BBC programmes including Saturday Review, Witness and Book at Bedtime.
As well as acting, Debra has recently started writing and has written several short plays and is currently working on a year long monologue project, which she writes, casts, schedules, directs and sometimes even films!
Debra is thrilled to be starting as Principal of Dartford, and excited to be working with the great team there and getting to know all the talented students.
"They say you should become the person you needed as a child. My mission is to encourage, inspire, support and help others to achieve their goals. At PQA Dartford I want to help the young people strive and reach their own goals and dreams, whatever they may be."
Vice Principal & Poppets
After training in acting at City Lit, Vicki wrote and produced her own one woman play titled 'Bric-a-Brac'. This led to her being cast in a number of plays including Lysistrata, Vinegar Tom for the Clapham Fringe and A Midsummer Nights Dream at the Canal Café Theatre. She has also appeared in several films including short film 'The Busker' and the feature length 'Junk Room'.
In 2016, after consistently thriving in comedic roles, Vicki decided to try her hand at a career in comedy and after taking Logan Murray's Stand Up and Deliver course she teamed up with character comedienne Jen Wakefield and formed double act 'Jiggle & Hyde' (now known as 'Wings'). They wrote sketch show 'Jiggle & Hyde Present: Sketchy Mother Pluckers' which they took up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for a full run at the SpaceUK as well as appearing in a cameo role in 'BEASTS Present Mr Edinburgh 2016' at The Queen Dome, Pleasance.
This year Vicki returned to the Edinburgh Fringe, this time with her own solo show 'Vicki Sargent: One Woman Army' which she performed for a full run at The Cuckoo's Nest as part of the Laughing Horse Free Fringe Festival. Vicki had great success receiving a four-star review from The Mumble who described her show as "a one woman sitcom...comedy gold."
Vicki is excited to return to teaching the Poppets class and to share her new skills and experience with all the students at PQA Dartford.

Film & Television
Azeem is a filmmaker with an array of abilities within the field from sound operating to cinematography, however, he has more recently focused on directing and editing.
For two years he ran a film club, mentoring young people who want to grasp the basics of making films. It was during these two years that Azeem accomplished one of his greatest achievements, making 52 videos in 52 weeks; this varied from a stop-motion romance between two staplers (which was on the 'Staples' website) to psychological thriller, 'The Novelist'. Azeem describes this self-given challenge to be 'My Film School.'
His most recent achievement was winning first place at Hackney Mash's audience choice award for his comedy noir, 'Dog Day'. At present, he is running his own production company named 'Bebop Films' as well as working closely with social enterprises in East London.
Film & Television Assistant
Liam has been acting since the age of 10 and studied Drama at secondary school for 4 years.
He has recently finished an acting course at the Miskin Theatre in Dartford.
Liam has lots of experience working both in front and behind the camera, having been in several short films and working for a film company, and it is this experience he brings to his role as Film & TV Assistant.
Green Group Assistant
Alexandra is a self taught dancer. She loves many styles from street and hip hop, to musical theatre and contemporary. She was awarded Student of the Year at her performing arts school where she studied acting and stage fighting, and achieved silver and bronze Arts Award.
Prior to working at Dartford, she was an assistant choreographer for theatre shows at Her Majesty's Theatre, as well as dance competitions and other showcases and shows at the Pauline Quirke Academy in Rochester. She also teaches after school dance classes to children aged from 4-16.
Alexandra was a PQA member from a very young age and has performed in the West End twice.
Her dream is to be a choreographer and to teach and inspire children to achieve their dream. She loves performing and working with children of all ages but it is her natural ability for working with younger children that makes her an excellent Green Group Assistant.
Mia first performed on stage at the age of 6 and has been in several plays at theatres including Greenwich Theatre, The Andrew Sketchley and Barbican Box. She has also acted in seven short films and a Sainsbury's Christmas advert.
She currently plays drums as part of Drum Works, an initiative set up in collaboration with the Barbican where they are now Artistic Associates. They also run drumming workshops where Mia is developing her music leadership skills.
Mia has previously worked at PQA Bow, and has also worked at Riverside Montessori and assisted with summer school programmes at another performing arts school.
It is this experience with little ones that makes her our perfect choice for Poppets Assistant.
