We offer every member of our academy the chance to do something they really enjoy. We teach confidence and important life skills through the Arts ranging from diverse ensemble and devised theatre to the elaborate worlds of film & television and the West End.
We believe every young person we teach is important and leaning is about doing. At PQA Cambridge we make sure our students really enjoy their experience; after all, theatre is entertainment!
PQA Cambridge operates on Saturday from 9.45am-1pm and 1.45-5pm at the Parkside Federation Academy in the centre of Cambridge.
Our fantastic facilities include a large hall, with a stage, lighting and sound facilities; a black box drama studio and a classroom with smart projector and speaker system.
We would love to show you what we do so please call Mikey on 07549923885 to arrange a free taster session.
Mikey has been a part of the Pauline Quirke Academy for 8 years, experiencing every part of the Academy from front desk to classroom, then becoming Principal of PQA Cambridge in 2011. PQA has truly become a huge part of Mikey's life and he has seen it all as it has developed over the years giving him a vast knowledge of the Academy.
Mikey directed his first production, Jack and the Beanstalk at the age of 18; from that he went on to direct Little Shop of Horrors at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2010. Mikey has also worked with London's Company of Angels, collaborating on a group of projects with other directors.
In 2012, Mikey produced and directed 'Fame' with Viva Theatre Company, which travelled across the Atlantic, giving many young people the opportunity to perform in New York!
As an actor Mikey has performed in many roles and knows very well how it feels to be part of production at a young age. Mikey's fully committed experience as a youngster in local groups further progressed into professional acting work as an adult including playing The Toymaker in Cambridge based company Gomito's: A Toymaker's Christmas.
Along with his directing, performing and youth work, Mikey is a keen musician, playing the drums for one of the country's first schools production of Cats, and bass for the musical I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2013. He will also happily lend his hand to the technical part of production, having assisted with the sound and lights for smaller amateur productions.
During the week, Mikey works at Soham Village College as their theatre producer and technical manager, whilst also teaching drama and music to 11-16 year olds.
"Theatre creates pleasure, fear, laughter and tears; but best of all, it creates great people."
