They found out that Dr Black, the Lord of the Manor had recently been found dead, lying in a pool of blood at the foot of the stairs leading to his cellar. There happened to be a lead pipe lying on the floor next to him. There was a suspicious rumour that this was a case of murder!
The Blue & Red groups showed off their character skill set with a performance of ‘Murder at PQA Manor’.
They worked extremely hard at building their characters based on the same characters from the game ‘Cluedo’.
Although the plot was written for them by the Comedy & Drama Teacher, Martin, they wrote their own scripts for several scenes to reveal clues for the audience to guess ‘who did it’.
The rehearsal rooms were turned into the ‘Cluedo’ rooms of the manor and each scene was acted out in various rooms about the Manor.
The Red group performed scenes in the ‘present’ time, after the speculated murder of Dr Black and the Blue group performed scenes of the same characters from the ‘past’, before the murder.
The presentation was set as a ‘Promenade’ performance, so the audience were split into three groups and ushered around the various rooms by the Butler; Head Mistress and the Maid of the Manor.
Once the Inspector arrived and with the aid of her Police sergeants questioned the ‘suspects’ the audience then were given time to work out who the murderer was, with what weapon and which room…
It turned out not to be the Butler but …. (You should have been there!)
The audience were very much involved and were impressed by the character acting of the students and embraced the atmosphere from the off.
Well done to everyone involved, we were so proud of what you achieved.
