Mallorca

PQA Mallorca StripWelcome to PQA Mallorca,  The First Overseas Academy.

We have been open since January 2009 and are well known throughout the island of Mallorca.

If you are looking to have lots of fun as well as learn new skills , you’ve come to the right place.

I am very lucky to have professional teachers that work well with all our students teaching them new skills, always building their confidence and giving them goals to work towards.

We always try to have a relaxed but focused atmosphere in class.

We have some great facilities too. Studios for Musical Theatre , Comedy/Drama & Poppets and are also able to use the grounds of the school for filming in Film & TV.

Every term we work towards a showcase in Musical Theatre, Comedy/Drama or Film & TV. We are lucky to have a theatre close by to use for Showcases and we also use our local cinema for our Red Carpet Event.

As well as our PQA students 6-18yrs , we also run a successful Poppets session 3-5yrs. Our Poppets always have so much in their classes and the parents love to come to their Show and Tell sessions held every term.

Every Saturday I look forward to see what our students will achieve next, we understand that every student is unique, they will have different talents, skills and performance levels. We will always encourage and make everyone feel at home.

It makes me very proud to see our students gain in confidence, perform & ultimately  learn new skills which they can use later in life.

We look forward to welcoming you to a sunny PQA Mallorca.

Hi, my name is Rachael Wilkins and I am the Principal of the first overseas PQAcademy in Mallorca, Spain.

Musical Theatre has always been a huge part of my life, I have been dancing since I was 4yrs and went to a local school in my home town in Bedford, England. I then went on to train at London Studio Centre in London, where I received a Diploma in Musical Theatre. I then worked as a professional dancer touring with dance companies around the world which brought me to Mallorca . Here, I became Captain Scarlet at the world famous Pirates Adventure! I fell in love with the island and have now been here for 12 years. Time goes so fast !!

I now live here with my husband and our 2 gorgeous little boys, Jacob and Jude.

We are based at the new Agora School in Portals Nous and I love running the first overseas PQAcademy.

Emma – Musical Theatre

Hi, My name is Emma.

I´m 29 years old and come from Sweden. I trained as a Musical Theatre Artist in Kulturama, Stockholm. Studying all forms of dance and singing. I worked in Sweden in Musical Theatre Shows and then moved to Mallorca 4 years ago.

I came to Mallorca to work with my passion – Showbiz! The plan was to work here for one summer season, but I fell in love with the island, the culture and the sun which made me want to stay.

The things I love most about performing is the mix of song, dance and theatre. It´s magic to have the opportunity to be someone else for a while, and to express ourselves through singing and dancing. In my dreamworld we would sing and dance throughout our lives!

I´m very glad to have the opportunity to share my experiences with all the students at PQA Mallorca!

I´m sure we will have alot of fun!

Weekend Drama School Comedy and Drama TeacherSummer – Comedy & Drama

Hi, my name is Summer.

After training as a classical actress at the Royal Welsh College Of Music and Drama some years ago, I went on to work professionally for six years in theatre and television. Theatre highlights including several UK Shakespeare tours, Antigone, The House Of Bernada Alba, West Side Story and a guest show in Londons’ Drury Lane Theatre singing various songs from the musicals. TV highlights include featured roles in Casualty, Holby City, and a commercial starring Lulu. After my time in front of the camera, I gradually got more interested in the production side of television and starting from scratch again as a runner on shows such as Fame Academy, Big Brother and America’s Next Top Model, worked my way up to become an Associate Producer making mainly observational documentaries for the BBC, the last of which was for BBC1 in 2010.

I have since taken time out of Television to have my first little boy and having recently moved to Mallorca, I am very pleased to be working with all the young and new talent at the PQA and passing on my industry knowledge.

Weekend Drama School Poppets TeacherElaine – Poppets

I am very thrilled to be adding my profile to this page.  I relocated to Mallorca last June through a love of the island and what was meant to be a few weeks turned into a few months and I’ve lived a very simple life here, me, my rucksack and Sebastian.   Sebastian is my teddy bear but he’s not just any teddy bear, he’s lived and breathed so many experiences he’s almost human!  For those of you cringing at the thought of a 28 year old teddy lover so am I and this was never my intention.  Furthermore; my reasons will eventually be confirmed when I finish his book ‘The Adventures of Sebastian’.

I graduated with a 2.1 combined Honours in Drama & Theatre Studies with Dance in 2007 and since then I have been practising many areas of creativity as a Creative Practitioner.  I gave myself this title 4 years ago and I’m sure I invented it! But now, I believe that this title is commonly used.

Straight out of university I landed an opportunity as a Comedy Trainee with the Comedy Trust, Liverpool.  I advanced to Comedy Tutor and worked with a professional Stand Up comedian supporting young people through their comedy training.   After 16 months I realised that I didn’t quite have the ego for stand up and that my energy would be put to better use elsewhere.  This experience was invaluable though because it led me to another path.

I turned my energy into writing and facilitating fun learning packages for young people to build confidence and self-esteem.  Throughout my career I have worked with all ages and I relate well to all types of people, after all we are all so very unique.  I am honoured to be part of the PQA team and I look forward to being part of the joy in the vision.
