Hemel Hempstead

Hello, and a very warm welcome to the website for the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts in Hemel Hempstead.

Here you will find information about all of our classes, our teachers, and also catch up on the latest news.

If you are looking at this website with a view to performing arts training, or simply looking for somewhere to have fun and meet new friends, then I couldn’t be more confident that you have come to the right place.

There are so many exciting things about being part of PQA. We have superb modules designed by our Creative Directors which provide a great learning experience for our students; regular master classes and visits from industry professionals; amazing theatre trips and workshops; and we of course have the benefit of Pauline’s own wealth of experience on her many Academy visits – and that is only the beginning! Have a look through the main site for more information.

PQA provide a unique mix of a high quality performing arts training and a friendly, relaxed environment that is equally focused on building confidence and encouraging individual personalities to shine.

Development and growth on a personal level is just as important as learning the skills and techniques to become fantastic actors, singers and dancers, and Pauline and her excellent team are completely driven by this ethos. That is why I was delighted when I was asked to be Principal of PQA Hemel Hempstead earlier this year.

I am immensely proud of the PQA Academy here at Hemel Hempstead. We have a team of wonderfully talented, inspiring and engaging teachers, who are all great friends working closely together every week to create the best possible experience for our students. We have a fun, friendly, welcoming atmosphere which I believe is very special, and is something that all of our visitors comment on. A lovely moment for us was when one of our students told us “it’s like being part of a family.”

I hope you enjoy browsing through our lovely pictures, videos, news and information, and I look forward to welcoming you to our Academy.

Our People

PQA Weekend Drama School PrincipalPrincipal – Susie Magill

I have always wanted to be a professional actress ever since I was 9 years old! I eventually went to full time drama as an adult where I was lucky enough to win a scholarship and graduated from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in 2006. Since leaving Mountview some of my credits include The Bill, Sainsburys and Asda commercials, The Woman in Black in the West End, Ben Elton’s Popcorn and the stage production of Alfie. As a child and teenager I attended various Saturday theatre schools and loved every minute of it! I was a very shy child and acting gave me the confidence that not only helped me in my career but in my everyday life.

Being so passionate about performing arts, cinema and theatre led me into teaching 3-18 year olds in various well known theatre schools. The joy and entertainment the students have brought me over the years is priceless.

There are so many exciting things happening at PQA Hemel Hempstead which I am extremely lucky to be part of. Our TV & Film classes will give students the chance to experience the fantastic world of screen acting, musical theatre provides the opportunity to perform in your favourite musicals along with our comedy & drama classes, where you can play games, improvise, create your own characters, express through mime, costumes and music, work on scripts plus so much more.

So whether you just to want to have loads of fun, build your confidence or dare to dream! Come along to PQA Hemel He,pstead and see for yourself how much fun there is to have on Saturday mornings!
