PQA HEMEL HEMPSTEAD ROCKS OUT!
PQA Hemel Hempstead had a fun and energetic morning last Saturday thanks to Andrew Simeon coming in to do the ‘WE WILL ROCK YOU’ Masterclass. Andrew has performed in this top West End Show on several occasions and showed our students what it was all about to rock out to some of the greatest rock anthems ever made by the legendary band Queen.
YO HO HO AND A BOTTLE OF RUM!
PQA Hemel Hempstead green and blue groups performed their version of the old classic Peter Pan.
We joined Wendy, John and Michael on their journey from the safety of their nursery across Neverland with their new found friend Peter Pan.
Along the way we meet all of Peter’s friends and foes such as Tinkerbelle, The Lost Boys, Tiger Lilly, The Mermaids and of course that old scoundrel Captain Hook with his scheming sidekicks Mr. Smee and Mr. Smoo, not to mention keeping an eye out for that pesky crocodile!

PQA Hemel Hempstead stages its first Masterclass of the year with a BANG! (and a THUD and a WHACK)
On Saturday 26th January we had the pleasure of welcoming Chris Hanvey to Hemel to show off his Stage Combat skills to our students.
As you can see from the pictures our students threw themselves into this Masterclass (quite literally) and we even managed to get through the whole day without opening the first aid box once!
From very real sounding punches and slaps to biting and even eye gouging, the students were shown not only how to inflict these moves but were also taught the art of being on the receiving end and making the attacks look even more realistic.
A thoroughly good Masterclass enjoyed by all!

Simon directs Hollyoaks
Simon James Green, one of our Creative Directors at PQA has recently directed an episode of teen soap Hollyoaks, which airs on Friday 18th and Monday 21st November. The special three-hander episode concludes a long-running storyline between the characters Jacqui, Gilly and Rhys.
Simon commented, “Working on Hollyoaks is great fun and the cast and crew are amazing. I look forward to sharing my experiences with our teachers and students over the course of the next few months. I think it’s fantastic that so many of us involved in PQA are working professionally because that means we can bring all those skills into the work we do with our students, making sure that their lessons reflect current industry practice in all media.”
