At PQA Leicester, we are always proud of our talented students, but we’ve never been more proud than on the evening of Sunday 9th June when 100 of our students took to the stage of Her Majesty’s Theatre in London in a breath taking performance of ‘Fright Night’.
Surrounded by props and costumes from the theatre’s resident show, ‘Phantom of the Opera’, the students (all aged between 6 and 17 years) dazzled their parents and their proud teachers in a high energy, flawless performance of the new musical written by PQA Creative Directors Simon James Green and Sarah Counsell.
This Summer’s PQA Showcase in Mallorca was a Variety Show of Dance , Drama & Singing . The Showcase was held last Saturday evening in Es Generador , Son Caliu.
Parents , family’s & friends were given a taster of everything that happens at PQA on a Saturday … It was a fantastic entertaining evening . The students had worked so hard and it bought out the best in every single one, aged 4 – 18yrs.
The teachers couldn’t be any happier, “we are very proud of them all, Well Done to all the PQA Students”
Kelly Smith said “Another great show……well done everyone!”
Claire Stone said ” Everybody was a star”
I as the principal of PQA Solihull I am so proud of the work done in the recording studio this week.
I cannot wait to hear the finished products when they have been edited by the recording technician. Well done to you all, the technician was very impressed with the professionalism of all the groups. Take a look at some picture below of the day.
PQA Chislehurst and Sidcup, Tonbridge and Rochester went to see The Birds of a Feather Tour at The Churchill Theatre Bromley and what a fun night we had! It brought back fond memories of this hilarious sitcom which is going back on TV and we can all see why! Parents, teachers and students got to see the differences in acting for stage and acting for camera by comparing the Birds theatre production to their original TV series. Plus we all got to meet Pauline backstage, here is our PQA pic!

The first Master Class was for the Poppets where they learnt all about ballet.
This Mini Master Class was taught by Hayley Wareham, Grade 8 in ballet and also a trained dancer in jazz and contemporary. She has performed ballet at various venues, most recently at The White Lodge in Richmond, and the BBC Media Centre. The Poppets learnt all about ‘The Nutcracker’ and became toys, rats, fairies and soldiers. They learnt various dance steps and performed a dance to their family and friends at the end of the class.
Here are some photographs from the session.
Huge congratulations to PQA Wickford’s Green Group who performed their prose and poetry showcase to parents on 15th June. They presented their own comedy version of the Greek myth Pandora’s Box and then we were treated to a selection of poems by Roger McGough, finishing with The Lesson where a headmaster and teacher take deadly revenge on their rowdy pupils.
Very tricky Greek names such as Hephaestus, Epimetheus, Prometheus and Aphrodite were pronounced perfectly; mask work was done with ease; and three students learnt extra lines effortlessly on the day as one student unfortunately couldn’t attend. What a bunch of superstars!
PQA Hertford students enjoyed a Casualty Make up Masterclass last Saturday, courtesy of special effects artist, Mike Peel!
Mike has worked on numerous films including the Bond film ‘Casino Royale’ and Harry Potter 5! He brought his experience and expertise to our academy in an exciting, gory fun class!

Every week one student will be announced as The Performer of the Week and another will be the Star Poppet.
To celebrate PQA Oxford being one month old several students were given their ‘Performer of the Week’ certificates. Every week the student who is outstanding in class will receive the title ‘Performer of the Week’ and get a certificate. Also one Poppet a week will get the ‘Star Poppet’ title and certificate too. Each student will have a different reason for their award, so far reasons have included directing skills in Film and TV class, having a strong singing voice and concentration skills.

The students at PQA Milton Keynes thoroughly enjoyed their ‘Fright Night’ sound recording session on Saturday. There was a hive of activity whilst we recorded the chorus numbers, inspected costumes and rehearsed musical routines.
There is a distinct air of excitement as we near our performance weekend at Her Majesty’s Theatre…
